ChipsAway Head Office Team Members, Karl Heeley (ChipsAway Technician) and Rebecca de Chair (B2C Group Marketing Manager), both participated in the London Marathon last Sunday, to raise awareness and money for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Karl, who secured his place through a ‘good-for-age’ spot having run a 1:21 half marathon(!), and Rebecca, who very luckily got a ballot place after many years of trying, decided to join forces, and use their places to fundraise together for the very worthy Brain Tumour Charity, who do such amazing work for many people suffering with brain tumours and cancer.
“We’ve both trained incredibly hard for the marathon, putting in many hours pounding the pavements, but it means so much more knowing we’re helping raise much needed funds for such a fantastic cause, which currently stands at over £2,200, and donations are still coming in!
“The crowds were absolutely incredible; everyone was so positive – willing us on to complete the gruelling 26.2 mile course. We loved every single minute of the day – smiling our way around from start to finish!” Comments Rebecca.
Karl adds, “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way with donations, good luck messages and encouragement – it has been truly inspirational! Every contribution, whether big or small, has played a vital role in bringing hope to individuals and families affected by brain tumours, and we are both extremely grateful for that.”
ChipsAway General Manager, Jackie Francis, concludes, “We are incredibly proud of Karl and Rebecca for their remarkable achievement in completing the London Marathon, and their commitment to supporting The Brain Tumour Charity. The fact Karl completed it in just 2 hours 46 minutes, and Becks in 4 hours 3 minutes is remarkable! Their passion, perseverance and dedication embody the values we hold dear at ChipsAway.”
